Privacy Policy

The short version: we don't collect your data, we can't see your files, and we never will.

๐Ÿง The honest summary: Muffin processes all files and data entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you upload, paste, or convert is ever sent to any server. We have no backend, no database, and no ability to see your data even if we wanted to. This privacy policy exists to be transparent about the minimal data interactions that do occur.

1. Who we are

Muffin (muffin-tools.pages.dev) is a free collection of browser-based data tools built and maintained by Sneha Chakraborty and Divyansh Pathak. Muffin is not a company โ€” it is a personal project made available free of charge to anyone who finds it useful.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us via LinkedIn.

2. Data we do not collect

Muffin does not collect, store, transmit, or process any of the following:

  • Files you upload or drop onto any tool (CSV, JSON, Excel, .ipynb, PDF, images)
  • Data you paste into any text area
  • Output files generated by any tool
  • Your name, email address, or any personal information
  • Your IP address
  • Your browser type, device, or operating system
  • What tools you use or how often
  • Any behavioral, analytics, or usage data

All file processing happens locally in your browser's JavaScript engine. Your data never leaves your device. You can verify this by opening your browser's developer tools (Network tab) while using any Muffin tool โ€” you will see no outgoing requests containing your data.

3. Cookies and tracking

Muffin does not use cookies, local storage for personal data, session tracking, advertising tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology.

Muffin currently does not use any analytics or tracking service. We may add privacy-friendly analytics (such as Google Analytics or Cloudflare Web Analytics) in the future to understand how many people use the site. If and when this happens, this policy will be updated to reflect what is collected and how to opt out.

4. Third-party services

Muffin loads a small number of external resources to function. These are standard CDN libraries and fonts โ€” none of them can see your files or data:

  • Google Fonts โ€” loads font files (Syne, JetBrains Mono, Inter) from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may log the font request. No file data is involved.
  • Cloudflare CDN โ€” loads open-source JavaScript libraries (PapaParse, SheetJS, Plotly.js) from cdnjs.cloudflare.com. Cloudflare may log the request. No file data is involved.
  • PDF-lib โ€” loaded from Cloudflare CDN on first use of the Merge PDFs tool. Same as above.

These requests contain only standard HTTP metadata (your IP address and browser type) that any website load involves. They do not and cannot contain your files or data.

5. Hosting and infrastructure

Muffin is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (free tier). Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs โ€” IP addresses, page URLs requested, timestamps โ€” as part of serving the website. This is standard for any website. Cloudflare's privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

Muffin has no server-side code, no database, and no ability to log or store anything beyond what Cloudflare's infrastructure automatically records as part of serving web pages.

6. Advertising

Muffin may display advertisements in the future to support the cost of running the site. Ad networks we are considering include Google AdSense, Carbon Ads, and Ethical Ads โ€” all of which are standard networks used by developer-focused websites.

If and when ads are introduced, this policy will be updated to reflect:

  • Which ad network is used
  • What data (if any) that network collects and how it is used
  • What cookies or tracking the ad network sets
  • How to opt out

Google AdSense, if used, may serve ads based on your browsing history and may set cookies. You can opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com.

Any advertising on Muffin will be tasteful, clearly labelled, and relevant to the developer and research audience. We will never show pop-ups, interstitials, or ads that interfere with tool functionality.

7. Children's privacy

Muffin does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since Muffin collects no personal information from any user, this applies equally to all visitors.

8. Your rights

Since Muffin does not collect or store any personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete. You have complete privacy by default.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected any data about you, contact us via LinkedIn and we will investigate immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy โ€” for example, if we introduce advertising or analytics โ€” we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date below. We will not make changes that reduce your privacy protections without clearly communicating them.
